Diatonic/Chromatic

These are opposites. Chromatic means including every semitone. Diatonic means including only notes that are included in a major or minor scale or key.
Hence a diatonic interval is one in which both the top and bottom notes are part of the same major or minor scale; a chromatic interval is one where this is not so.
A diatonic scale is a major or minor one.
